Landmark Banff and Lake Louise Images and Descriptions
Banff Sign
The Banff Sign is located on the way into Banff along the Norquay Road. It quickly became an iconic fixture for picture taking as soon as it went up. It is as though no trip to Banff is complete without your picture with the Banff Sign!
There is short term parking across the street from the sign. From there walk and cross the road safely at the designated crosswalk and take your pictures!
This card is an iconic momento of your time in Banff or something to add to your list when you come and visit!
Lake Louise
Again, this is a very unique image of Lake Louise. It is from the back of the Lake and was captured high up on the rocks on an early morning sport rock climb (please don’t try this unless you are an experienced sport rock climber). The image captures rarely seen rock formations at the end of the Lake as well as the trademark aquamarine colour of the glacial waters. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is in the distance and further beyond is the Lake Louise Ski Resort.
Sunrise at Lake Louise
Without a doubt it could, and should, be said that every photo or image of Lake Louise is absolutely beautiful. This is a unique photo of Lake Louise at Sunrise. Yes the sun rises every day, but the combination of light, timing and the time of year capture a rarely seen version of this spectacular scene.
Moraine Lake
Moraine Lake is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. It is famous for its aquamarine glacial fed waters, hiking and stunning mountain beauty. However, it can be most famously known for being the image on the back of the Canadian $20 bill in 1969 and 1979.
In addition, this is an early morning image in the Spring combining the Summer colours of the trees and aquamarine glacial water as well as remnants of snow on the rugged classic peaks. This a unique combination that can only be seen at certain short periods during each year.
Lake Louise
This Winter photo is taken from the across the valley from the Lake Louise Ski Resort. It shows Lake Louise frozen over and the grand Victoria Glacier behind and above it. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise can also be seen at the very front of the Lake. It is a very iconic image and a classic view recognized around the world.
Hector Lake
Hector Lake is an absolute gem. It is located just a short drive on Highway 93 North just minutes beyond Lake Louise. This scene requires a hike as well as crossing a river. This view cannot be seen from the road. Again, this is what makes this image so unique. It is an early morning photo and Hector Lake provides some of the most gorgeous mountain and water views in the Canadian Rockies.
Mount Rundle
Mount Rundle has the reputation of being the most photographed mountain in the world. This Winter photo is taken from the Mt. Norquay road lookout. Down below the Town of Banff can been seen in the lower foreground and the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is nestled in the trees in the lower right.
All in all, many would agree that Mount Rundle defines Banff and Banff National Park.
